So almost everyone has at one point or time thought about having their own garden to have fruits and vegetables readily accessible, or at least thought about how growing a garden works in general.
Well here are some beginner gardening tips for those of you that haven’t planted and grown your own plants before.
First Of all every single plant is different! All plants need different amounts of:
Water per day or week
Exposure to sunlight
Type of soil nutrient (i.e.nitrogen,phosphorus) content
Plant spacing
Plant container size(If planting in pots)
Luckily most seeds come with most of that information. Also, look for Organic seeds. Additionally you should look at what plants would compliment being planted with others.
Once you’ve picked out what plants you’d need for whatever reason, whether for nutrition, free fruits and vegetables, or for fun; you need to determine your planting method.
Planting Methods are:
Raised Garden Beds
Regular Planting
Potted Plants
Hydroponics
Aeroponics
Aquaponics
Greenhouse
First Stage once planted:
When preparing these different methods they all have one thing in common which is the “Germination” stage. This stage is putting 1-6 seeds usually into a 2-3” deep square or hexagon tray with many spots filled with soil. This allows you to control the environment for growing your plants from Sprouts into Seedlings. You’ll let your little sprouts which start off as seeds lightly covered with soil or dirt grow until they have at least 2-3 leafs.
There are six Stages to plant growth:
Sprout (Germination)
Seedling
Vegetative
Budding
Flowering
Ripening
